    •    While I use a variety of materials and processes my goal is consistent. Although the materials I use are not always the same, recurring formal concerns and subject link the images. My intent determines which medium I use each uniquely allowing me to express distinctive sensations. I handle my materials in a manner so that marks are created without interfering with the inherent way the medium moves upon the surface. As an example in Fly-by-Night, the image came to my mind in a sudden moment of clarity. In my studio, I knew what materials and physical movements I would need to use to achieve the results I wanted.  I placed over sized paper on the floor and poured charcoal powder on it in a particular formation, I then proceeded to tilt and bend the paper forcing the charcoal to move across the field leaving behind my marks.     - Charcoal on Stonehenge Paper
